Zöpfe/Cables

…sind immer noch eine Liebe von mir, auch wenn ich inzwischen überwiegend “Löcher” stricke. Das hier ist gerade fertig geworden und dieses Zopfmuster namens “Sächsisches Band” habe ich nicht zum letzten Mal gestrickt:

Saxon Braid Pullover

Gestrickt mit Nadelstärke 6 (puuh, was sind das Baumstämme!) aus Schachenmayr Extra Merino Big. Verbraucht habe ich etwas mehr als 11 Knäuel. Das Muster gibts leider nur noch bei Ravelry. Obwohl die Anleitung englischsprachig ist, ist sie simpel aufgebaut: für den Zopf gibt’s eine Musterschrift und der Pullover wird an einem Stück von vorne über die Schultern nach hinten gestrickt. Auf der Rückseite ist kein Zopfmuster mehr. Dann nur noch Kragen einstricken, Seitennähte schließen und fertig! ;-)

Eigentlich hatte ich die Idee noch lange Ärmel anzustricken, dafür hatte ich aber nicht mehr genug Garn. Also habe ich ein Haarband aus dem verbliebenen dreiviertel Knäuel gestrickt:

Dick, weich und warm sind beide Teile und mit den Baumstämmen ging das relativ flott. Unser Landseer-Rüde Findus mußte mir heute morgen unbedingt beim Photographieren helfen. Er hat die Schneiderpuppe auf der Wiese bewacht:

Mit diesem Zopfmuster werde ich noch ein Paar Socken und einen Schal stricken. Und als Ergänzung zu diesem jetzt doch ärmellosen Pullover schwebt mir ein Paar Stulpen mit dem “Sächsischen Band” vor.

The sweater is done with size 10 needles (ugh, that are really tree trunks!). The yarn is Schachenmayr Extra Merino Big and I used a little more than 11 balls. Unfortunately the pattern is available via Ravelry only. The instructions are quite simple: there’s a chart for the cable pattern and the sweater is started at the front, knitted to the shoulders and down the back in one piece. There are no cables on the back. Knit the cowl, close the side seams and you’re done! ;-)

Had the idea to add long sleeves but didn’t have enough yarn for that. So I did this headband with the saxon braid pattern from the remaing ball:

Thick, smooth and warm are these things and knitting with tree trunks was really fast. Our male Newfoundlander Findus had to help with the photo shoot this morning. He guarded the dress form on the meadow:

I’ll use that cable pattern for a pair of socks and a scarf. And I thought of a pair of armwarmers with the Saxon Braid pattern to match with this now sleeveless sweater.
